Assalamualaikumwarahmatullahiwabarakatuh

Well, first of all I want to say 'tata' to my S3.
Yes, I lost it. actually, I left it in the taxi. Screw you dishonest taxi driver. Urgh!
Now I'm in a major dilemma on wanting to buy a new gadget or bear using a torchlight Nokia phone.

*Sigh*

Well, actually, the purpose of writing this entry is to share my experience sitting for the MUET Speaking Exam the other day on 30 October 2013, 11a.m.

Well, I woke up early that morning after two hours of sleeping *last minute preparation, had to sleep late
I drove to UM and arrived at about 9.30 *well, I don't have a watch since my phone went missing
and.... I bumped onto Puan Masdida my Chemistry lecturer and asked me on my chemistry paper the other day. Relevant answer, "Owh, boleh jawab, but tak cukup masa lah. hehe" and she actually wished me luck, well I don't care whether she remember me or not, a wish from her is enough to prove that she really cares about her students.

Well, as expected, I was the first to come for the 11am session and few dudes on the 7.30 session are still waiting for their turn in the waiting room. The KBTs. Well, I heard that the topic given to them had something to do with the road, accident and stuff. Who give a damn what they get.

After the two longest hours of waiting in my life, finally we were called to enter the waiting room. I was placed at KBT 14, my tutorial class. Hikhok, well... I'm kinda superstitious boy that I won't do well on my test because I hate that room and I often get lower marks on my tutorial whenever I have a class held in that room. I was the last person to enter.

Assalamualaikum...

I thought I was in a theme park because there was water spill everywhere on the floor
'Oh god please not the ceiling again' Actually it was the ceiling. The leakage that lead to the great bath.
There were four groups of four and all of them are boys. First, I didn't realize that our code actually according to our group and since I was the last to enter so my group knows I should be one of them.
"Hoi kau, sini, kau group ni. and kau candidate A"
Bad words flew on my head. Lots and lots of them.
'Why candidate A? URGHHH!!!

Well, let me tell you what are the 'advantages' that candidate A could ever have.

-they have to do the introduction more that any other candidate and waste lots of time
'well dude, 2 minutes is not enough to give away and elaborate your points, bear that in your mind'
-well, it's never a good thing to be the first one to talk. It is nerve wrecking okay
-you don't have the time to write your points because you are only given 2 minutes to prepare your points      and when the time finished, you have to start talking while the others can still write their points when you are  presenting your ideas. That is just not fair. Not fair!

After a few minutes of waiting, finally came in this Chinese-Muslim woman wearing all red from head to toe even her spectacles. She's wearing a hijab too, don't worry guys. She explained to us on how this thing works *like we never knew* and brought along this package. The question paper, Tightly sealed in a plastic bag. Heart pumped fast. Chooyyy it felt like I was taking my SPM with this sealed question paper and stuff.

My group members. Well, there was four of us.
One of them from the Q group *dak2 hebat English, aku group R je as candidate C*
The other one is Hilman's friend as candidate D *yeah, because I saw him on Hilman's twitter*
The last one... well, I don't even know his name and the other two but I've seen him before...somewhere?
And there was me. Sweating like a pig.

The heat from the window, the smell of the puddles of water from the ceiling, the smell of sweat.
God! I need to go to the gents.
Right after I came back from the toilet, it was finally our turn.

Everybody took their seats, ID cards out, Smile....

Then this examiner explained to us again the procedures

We were give two tasks: Task A and Task B

Task A;

the candidates are given a topic to discuss on and four points need to be elaborated are also given to them
two minutes are given to each of them to jot down their points before the first candidate starts presenting
each candidate will have to present their points in 2 minutes of talking

Task B;

a group discussion based on the topic given and you can agree on each other's  points or the other way around
10 minutes are given for them to discuss
at the end of the discussion there should be a conclusion and which point is the best choice

Well, my topic was

"If there is a case of emergency, which of these is the first to be called?

-Family
-Hotline number
-Friends
-Neighbor "

hikhok my point was Family...
yadda yadda yadda

"time's up"

well, I didn't expect her to say that because I usually talk too fast during my rehearsal with my tutor and I always get this comment "Slow down, u're talking too fast".
For the first time I didn't have enough time to elaborate. Well, at least I had pointed my views on that topic and elaborate enough. More than enough actually.

Yadda yadda yadda

Candidate B-C-D

The group discussion went well, actually we had a blast. We laughed all the way through and the examiner too can't stop bursting when we pointed our views. It was mostly ridiculous but the end of the day is how well you speak in English is all that matters. We agreed on  choosing the neighbour as the best person to be called when there is a case of emergency.
I don't blame you if you are quite weird with our conclusion but you have to hear what we have to say on choosing the neighbour as the person to be called. *That's why we burst into laughter*

Well, what I learnt from this experience I had is that I should never hesitate or feel ashamed on talking in English and it is not that bad at all speaking in English to your friends, teacher, lecturers or even your family members. Stop being judgemental and start figure out on how to improve your pronunciation and don't you ever be shy. Let them laugh because at least you try.

Happy talking!

Here's a pic of PASUM building.
*KBT 14 tiada dlm gambar, harap maklum*

P/s: I used a lot of  'well' in my sentences. Who cares?
